Hobsons is committed to helping to give children in developing countries access to education
In recent years, Hobsons' employees around the world have raised money to build new schools and provide educational materials for communities in Namibia, Nicaragua, Borneo and Guatemala. Ambassadors from Hobsons have visited each of the projects, attending the opening of newly built schools and distributing books, pens and other materials.
Hobsons and Plan
Hobsons is currently working with Plan, a community development agency that helps children in some of the world’s poorest countries to realise their full potential through various types of aid.
Employees in Hobsons’ offices around the world have been involved in a wide range of fundraising events, including bungee jumps, skydives, 10k runs, baking cakes and cookies, dress-down days, sports tournaments and auctions. The money raised through these events and contributions from the business have helped to fund a number of projects through Plan UK:
Aceh, Indonesia
In 2005/06, Hobsons helped to fund the reconstruction of a school in the village of Saney in the Aceh district that was destroyed in the Boxing Day tsunami in 2004.
Nairobi, Kenya
In 2005/06, Hobsons also worked with Plan UK to improve the learning environment at Dagoretti Muslim Primary School in Nairobi, Kenya.
Tan Long, Vietnam
The location for Hobsons’ project with Plan for 2006/07 is Tan Long, a mountainous region of Vietnam.
