We work with a range of government bodies and policy organisations carrying out innovative bespoke research projects and providing tailored analysis of our major annual surveys
A snapshot of some of our projects
HEFCE has commissioned Hobsons, in collaboration with CHERI, to undertake research into league table methodologies and their impact on higher education institutions.
This high profile study will be published in early 2008.
Hobsons conducted a bespoke online survey of 14,000 prospective international students, supported by in-depth interviews. We explored the influence of the visa operation on students' decision-making processes, helping UKvisas monitor trends and plan their future strategy.
Hobsons has conducted a wide range of projects on behalf of the QCA, including a series of analyses relating to school, college and university students and providers, focusing on their experiences, perceived skills and education pathways.
This work has already informed investigations into new qualifications, functional skills, Specialised Diploma development and e-regulation.
Our values
We work closely with our clients to ensure that we fully understand their needs.
We are transparent about the sampling framework and methodology for each project so clients can be confident that the research we produce is robust and reliable.
The aim of our research is not just to provide a client with data, but to offer them intelligence that can help them drive positive change at policy level.

More//
This year we have undertaken some fascinating projects for a variety of different clients, including the Department for Education & Skills, UKvisas, the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust.
For these projects, as with all the research we undertake, the focus is on the implications of the research findings. What does the data mean and how can you use it to create awareness and inform debate, and to develop effective, evidence-based policy and strategy?
Organisations working with Hobsons learn to expect an emphasis on relevant, high-quality research and close, transparent communications.
