Registration for the 2008 Global Management Challenge is now underway, with over 120 student teams signing up to take part in this year?s game
Registration for this year’s Global Management Challenge (GMC) opened in May, and student response has been over-whelming. Students from universities around the country have been registering to take part in the GMC via www.gmc.hobsons.co.uk
Students have been finding team members on the GMC Discussion Forum on the GET site and reading about the experiences of students who took part in last year's game.
They can also access sample management reports, study last year's company histories and swat up on the game manual.
Innovative recruitment tool
Students have also been given the option to choose to be mentored by a top UK graduate employer. Mentors will help students throughout the competition, giving advice and support. The UK’s leading graduate recruiters – including RM and Watson Wyatt – have found the GMC a fantastic way to interact with potential recruits. So far, over 90% of student teams have opted to be matched to an employer mentor.
New recruiters on board this year include KPMG, Norton Rose and BDO Stoy Hayward.
Strategic partnerships
Hobsons has been working with a number of strategic partners – including Bright Futures, the University of Warwick, University of Liverpool and City University – to make students aware of how they can boost their skills by competing in the Global Management Challenge.
So far, the London School of Economics, the University of Newcastle and City University have the largest number of students taking part in this year’s GMC.
