According to the British Council, until recently the higher education system in Greece was not able to cope with the demand, so potential students had no choice other than to look for an alternative outside the country.
Competitive tuition fees
The UK is geographically the closest and, because of home status fees, the cheapest destination compared to other English-speaking competitors.
Less popular subject
In turn, UK universities have been keen to promote themselves in Greece because the level of education at secondary level is high and they can attract students to traditionally less popular subjects, such as engineering.
