The latest missive from the Reform think tank claims that this generation of graduates will be paying nearly fifty percent in tax within five years
An average graduate salary of £27,155 would, according to the think tank, be slashed by over £10,000 in taxes (including council tax and VAT), by a further £1,500 or so in “near-compulsory” pension contributions and by £1,000+ in student-loan repayments.
This leaves an average disposable income of only £13,862.26.
About Reform
Reform is a free-market think tank pushing public-sector reform and the extension of consumer choice in the provision of public services. The organisation’s annual reports on this generation aim to give a voice to the people it believes are being hamstrung by having to pay for the Baby Boomers’ retirement plans.
